It's official. Water restrictions start in Victoria on Friday, the first time in 20 years. Having not lived through one before, it's going to be interesting. The authorities are even encouraging neighbours to dob in water wasters! The water shortage must be really serious. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that affects me is that I have to use a bucket to wash the car, which I already do anyway. The water I use is mainly to have 2 showers a day and to wash the dishes, so I don't think I have too much to worry about. Pity the idiots who make it a habit to hose down their driveways.

I've decided that I have to treat golf a bit more seriously - it's one of the few things I have a chance of getting better at. So I went to the range last night to work on my swing. I think I've worked out that I'm coming inside out too much, so from now I will make a conscious effort to correct that. Today I'll be going to Malvern Valley to work on my chipping and putting before it gets dark. The extra hour certainly helps. Polly's going to be practising at Kingston, which is too far for me. I hope her interest doesn't wane, it will be really nice to go out and have a round with her on a regular basis. How's everyone like my new kicks?

Summer's just around the corner, with Daylight Savings kicking in... lost an hour of sleep on Sunday morning, but gained an hour of daylight for the next 6 months! This is the time when we can really start to enjoy our golf. I played a round in Brighton yesterday with the lads, but played shockingly bad. The holes punctured into the greens for aeration didn't help much. It's convinced me that I need practice, and a lot of it. Scoring 103 in a par 67 course is VERY BAD. I've been calling up the golf courses in our area to enquire about lessons and they charge around $40 per 1/2 hr. I could hit almost 400 balls in that time for that kind of money. I think what I'll do is try practicing more regularly, like maybe 3 times a week, and see whether I improve. If there's no change within 2 months, I'll invest in lessons. My short game's OK, it's the long game that's a roller coaster ride.

We took Tiger to the Lygon Street Festa on Saturday - it was like a food/fun fair on Lygon St where all the Italiano's hang out. There were food and drink stalls galore, but wasn't quite the scale I expected. The weather was great, though. On the way home we stopped by the Nike warehouse store and I bought a pair of Air Presto Faze for $75. I thought that was a bargain. It was predominantly navy with gold elastic 'laces' which are not really laces because you don't have to tie them up. They kind of wrap around the top part of your foot. They're not the prettiest of shoes, but verrrry light and comfortable. See?
